CES cylinder 810 RE plus rated "Best Product"
DIY magazine selbst ist der Mann tests the security of locking cylinders

In its December issue, the German DIY magazine selbst ist der Mann put the focus on a small component that often tends to be overlooked - the locking cylinder.  The magazine thoroughly tested ten cylinders and at the end of the day rated the CES cylinder 810 RE plus "Best Product".  The burglary attempts follow a standardized procedure and were performed by VdS Schadenverhütung, an independent institution that for several decades has been promoting security and confidence in fire protection and security devices and is also responsible for granting the VdS certifications for locking cylinders.

The cylinder must resist an attack by a carbide-tipped drill for at least three minutes without opening.  The best product in the test, the CES cylinder, withstood the attack for more than six minutes, enough to even meet the requirements of the next higher VdS class.  For this, the testers awarded the maximum score: nine points.  The magazine pointed out that cheap cylinders are easily drilled open in one or two minutes.  CES also got nine points in the test criteria Picking, Cylinder Projection, and Care - the final rating "Very Good" was awarded for 45 points.  The overall assessment by the testers: "The CES cylinder 810 RE plus is the only cylinder in the test with an integrated anti-pulling protection - both practical and effective: not the cylinder could be pulled out but only the screw that was screwed in.  Also the drilling result proved to be very good!"

The general conclusion and recommendation by the magazine: "You get what you pay for - do not fall for cheap cylinders."
