This number is engraved on the key and the cylinder and is also noted on a security card.  The relevant data for each cylinder are safely preserved at the key manufacturer and you can only order a duplicate key if you present the security card.

Certified locking cylinders have an intricate interior with a large number of locking elements that prevent unauthorized opening in many ways.  Special hard metal inserts in the cylinder casing and the cylinder core offer efficient protection against drilling and pulling out of the cylinder.  Even with a special drill, burglars do not stand a chance.

By the way, a security cylinder also offers a maximum of operating security and convenience for the users.  Thanks to the "emergency function", the entrance door can be unlocked even if a key is inserted on the inside.

What many home owners have not yet realized is that you can also install a locking system in your private home.  This will give you the advantage of having but a single key for all locks - entrance door and garage, garden door or letter box can all be opened with one and the same key.

Knowing that you have the right cylinder in your lock will put you at ease on vacation.  But of course you should also exercise good judgment before you give your key to somebody else.  And you should think twice before you try and hide it at one of the usual places where burglars look first - that is something the police always warn about.  After all, even the most sophisticated security measures can be rendered ineffective by negligence.
