In an eight-month project, students of the University of Arts in Social Contexts in Ottersberg, Germany, designed pictures, videos and installations dealing with the core subjects of Germany’s oldest barrel locks factory. Within the framework of the staff celebration on 13 June, four of the 18 art pieces were honoured. “When entrepreneurial and artistic ideas and actions meet, new chances arise to see the entirety and to open up to new perspectives.

Production at CES was radically re-structured in accordance with the principle of the “agile production”. Production processes are optimised by installing small and flexible production units. This is how segment S48 came into existence, which within 48 hours after order receipt produces the individual locking system and delivers it to the customer.

Heinrich Schulte established the company as a lock factory. Long before 1840, the actual founding year, predecessors of the Schulte family were independently working as locksmiths.
