Due to the high frequency of door use, commercial locks are expected to be highly durable. Locks are classified according to their intended use (DIN Classes 3–5).
Locks fitted to fire doors are subject to additional requirements. Tested and certified by the “Prüfinstitut Schlösser und Beschläge” (Locks and Fittings Testing Institute) in Velbert, CES fire-rated locks comply with the requirements of the European standard EN 12209.
As a visible indication that CES fire-rated locks comply with the applicable requirements of EU regulations, they bear the CE mark.
